The path to biodiversity – community learning and creative methods from Erfurt
Inspirational, educational, engaging, and scientifically valuable: this is the latest case study published within the PLANET4B project on the practice of transformative change, authored by our partner CGE Erfurt.
The 48-page, colorful document with personal experiences explores how urban youth relate to a neglected topic like biodiversity, and how this topic can be brought to the forefront, shaping their knowledge, thinking, and attitudes about it.
The authors reveal the journey of a young, student-led learning community formed in the frame of the PLANET4B project case study “Urban youth, intersectionality, and nature “ in Thuringia and Saxony, and the creative methods—such as outdoor cinema, hikes, participatory games, and nature immersion—that the youth tested with the help of CGE Erfurt and the scientific partner Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. These methods aimed to deepen their understanding of their own knowledge, connections, norms, and decisions related to biodiversity.
The lesson is clear: the authors’ conclusions can help understand the power of community learning and creative methods, offering valuable insights for anyone working with young people in similar fields.
„These pages hold our stories — and show what’s possible when youth are trusted to lead.”
